Your Boudoir Prep Guide

Hey friend - let’s talk all things boudoir prep for your upcoming shoot.

One Month Before

Vintage style black and white boudoir photo with dramatic window lighting.

The month before your shoot is a great time to start getting yourself ready, here’s what I recommend;

  • Try on all your outfits to make sure they fit, and buy any undergarments you may need
  • Write down or save any poses or ideas you may want
  • Find hair or makeup inspiration (if you want!)

One week before

  • Envision what you want for your shoot - how does it look, feel, what emotions does it convey?
  • Begin daily gentle stretching, the poses can be tough
  • Moisturize, wax/shave if that’s your thing, hair mask/face mask, lots of self care!
  • Stay hydrated

one day before

  • Get lots of sleep!
  • Take an everything shower
  • Hydrate a lot - more than you usually do
  • Moisturize even more
  • Do a gentle yoga session
  • Prep all your outfits + accessories to bring along with you
  • Eat lots of good snacks!

Where To Go

I’ll contact you closer to your session date to confirm the location!

What To Bring

Undergarments if needed

2+ pairs of heels/shoes

Jewelry & accessories

A water bottle & snack

What To Expect

Boudoir sessions are SO much fun - you’ll have some time to enjoy being pampered with hair & makeup to begin, which is also a great time to chat and help ease any nerves. We can play any music you’d like, and your job is to just relax.

After that, we’ll move into outfit ideas and styling. I’ll help you with suggestions! Then we’ll move into the shooting portion, but don’t worry, I’ll help every step of the way.

I’ll guide you in posing and demonstrate poses as well, and I’ll make sure you look your best by fixing your hair & wardrobe constantly. Typically we’ll do a handful of base poses with each outfit and variations within those poses to create a full gallery, the poses will feel weird but I promise they look great.

Once the session is wrapped up, I’ll confirm your gallery turn around time (typically 3 weeks), and you can ask me any questions!

On the day of, please come with dry clean hair and a bare clean face!

FAQ

should i self tan?

If that’s your norm - then yes! Make sure to apply the self tanner a week or so before the shoot, to avoid any transfer or pooling. Try to avoid tan lines if possible!

What kind of undergarments will i need?

I always suggest nipple covers, shapewear, a strapless bra, and a nude thong - but it all depends on outfits. Message me if you need help!

do you edit blemishes?

Yes! I edit out all temporary blemishes automatically - if you have any scarring/tattoos/etc you want removed too, just let me know.

what else should i bring?

Feel free to bring any extra shoes, accessories, outfits, etc, you think might work! And you can bring a friend for support as well if you want.
